Postdoctoral Researcher in Blue Carbon in Seagrass Ecosystems

Duration
24 months, with the possibility of extension subject to funding availability. Starting date is flexible, but the successful candidate is expected to start no later than January 4th 2027.

Research Area
The Institute of Oceanography/Seagrass Ecology Lab invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in blue carbon dynamics in seagrass ecosystems. The successful candidate will study carbon storage and greenhouse gas fluxes in seagrass ecosystems and will evaluate seagrass restoration outcomes for carbon sequestration. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team in the frame of the EU-funded LIFE project LIFE LULUCF ATLAS (https://life-lulucf-atlas.eu).
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct field surveys
- Process and analyse biogeochemical samples
- Manage and analyse data and write up findings for peer-reviewed publications and reports
- Develop visualisations for communicating research results
- Contribute to grant writing and other fundraising efforts
Qualification requirements:
- Knowledge of coastal wetlands, biogeochemistry and carbon inventories
- Field and laboratory experience on blue carbon methodologies
- Scuba diving certification at the rescue diver level
- Experience in working with large datasets
- Proficiency in statistical computing platforms
- Excellent knowledge of the English language
