Dr Ioannis Sempos (Sebos) is the scientific responsible and coordinator of the Greenhouse Gas Inventory System of Greece, and member of the working group for the monitoring of the implementation of the National Climate and Energy Plan (NECP).

He is a Lead Reviewer of UNFCCC and EEA/EC. He is a lead author of IPCC reports related to MRV issues (SLCF, CDR and CCUS) and member of the Editorial Board at the Emission Factor Database of IPCC.

He works as a Teaching and Research Associate at the National Technical University of Athens. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of West Attica and the Hellenic Open University.

Furthermore, he has participated in many technical projects dealing with: climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies and policies, renewable energy, industrial risk assessment etc.

He has actively contributed to numerous capacity-building projects aimed at developing countries, focusing on GHG emissions / removals, as well as the projection and evaluation of policies and measures. His work spans a diverse range of countries, including Tajikistan, Oman, Iraq, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Dominica, Peru, Fiji, PNG, Mongolia, Montenegro, Albania, Georgia, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Guyana and others.
